Riley Snooker KB Review - Snooker Hall in Kota Bharu, Kelantan

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Riley Snooker, also known as Pusat Latihan Billiard & Snooker KB, is one of the largest cue sports venues on Malaysia's East Coast. Located in KB Mall, Kota Bharu, the hall operates 42 tables in total: 12 steel bar snooker tables and 30 pool tables. For a region where snooker infrastructure is generally limited, this is a substantial operation that serves as the primary destination for cue sports in Kelantan.

12 Steel Bar Snooker Tables at Riley Snooker

The 12 snooker tables at Riley Snooker use steel bar construction, which refers to the support structure of the cushion rails. Steel bar (or steel block) cushions are generally considered superior to wooden block alternatives because they provide more consistent and responsive rebounds. This is the same type of construction used in many professional and tournament-grade tables. For players who care about table quality, steel bar snooker tables are a positive sign.

Having 12 dedicated snooker tables in one venue is impressive for a city the size of Kota Bharu. Even many halls in larger Malaysian cities do not maintain that many snooker-specific tables, often giving more floor space to the more commercially popular pool tables. The 30 pool tables confirm that pool drives the business volume, but the commitment to 12 snooker tables shows respect for the snooker community. For more on the differences between snooker and pool, our comparison guide breaks down the key distinctions.

No-Smoking Environment

Riley Snooker enforces a no-smoking policy, which is a meaningful benefit in the Malaysian context. Smoke-free play means cleaner air, better table cloth condition over time, and a more comfortable environment for families and non-smokers. In a mall setting, this policy aligns with the building's general standards, but it is still worth highlighting because not all mall-based venues enforce it consistently.

Mall-Based Convenience

Being inside KB Mall provides several practical advantages. The mall offers sheltered parking, air conditioning throughout, food court access, and a generally safe, well-lit environment. For players who want to combine snooker with shopping or dining, or for families where some members play while others browse, the mall setting is genuinely convenient.

The venue occupies lots 39A through 42 on Level 2 of the mall, which is a substantial footprint. This is consistent with the 42-table count and suggests a spacious layout that should avoid the cramped feeling of smaller halls.

Training Centre Branding

The full name "Pusat Latihan Billiard & Snooker KB" translates to "Billiard & Snooker Training Centre KB," suggesting the venue offers or has offered coaching or training services. Whether this remains an active part of the operation is not confirmed, but the branding hints at an environment where player development is valued alongside casual play.

Honest Assessment

Riley Snooker's Foursquare rating of 5.5 out of 10 is average, which suggests it is a functional venue without being exceptional. For Kota Bharu and Kelantan as a whole, however, it is the most substantial snooker option available. The steel bar tables, no-smoking policy, and mall convenience are genuine strengths. The pool-heavy table ratio (30 pool vs 12 snooker) means the atmosphere may lean more towards casual pool players than dedicated snooker enthusiasts, but having 12 snooker tables provides sufficient capacity for the snooker community.

For players in Kelantan seeking a new cue or accessories, there are no dedicated snooker equipment retailers in the state that we could identify. Online purchasing or sourcing from Kuala Lumpur retailers would be your best options.
