Star Cuesports Review - Snooker Hall in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Star Cuesports is a cue sports venue in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, occupying four contiguous units (K1-1 to K1-4) in Block K of Metro Town. The fact that it spans four units immediately tells you something about the scale of this operation. Most snooker halls in Malaysia occupy one or two shophouse units, so a four-unit setup suggests either a large number of tables, a combined retail and playing concept, or both.

Metro Town Location

Metro Town is a modern commercial development in Kota Kinabalu that provides several advantages for a cue sports venue. As a purpose-built commercial complex, it offers structured parking, consistent air conditioning across the building, and proximity to other retail and food options. Players who visit Star Cuesports can combine their session with other errands or meals without needing to drive elsewhere.

The Block K location within Metro Town also means the venue benefits from the foot traffic and visibility that comes with being in a commercial centre rather than a standalone shophouse. For visiting players who are not familiar with KK's layout, commercial complexes are generally easier to find via GPS navigation than individual street addresses.

Four Units: What That Implies

Spanning units K1-1 through K1-4 is a considerable footprint. A standard commercial unit in a Malaysian commercial complex typically measures between 800 and 1,200 square feet. Four units therefore suggest a total space of roughly 3,200 to 4,800 square feet, which is substantial for a cue sports venue. This kind of space can comfortably accommodate 10 to 15 full-size tables with proper spacing, or a combination of snooker and pool tables along with retail space for equipment.

The "Cuesports" branding (rather than just "Snooker" or "Pool") also hints at a broader offering. Venues using the cuesports label typically cater to multiple disciplines, including both snooker and pool, and may also stock or sell cue sports equipment. We cannot confirm whether Star Cuesports includes a retail component, but the naming convention and the large footprint suggest it is more than a simple playing hall.

Kota Kinabalu's Growing Cue Sports Scene

Star Cuesports is part of a growing cue sports ecosystem in Kota Kinabalu. The city's flagship venue remains Sheffield Snooker & Billiards in Inanam, which is SSBA-sanctioned and offers free coaching for youth under 21. J Pool Snooker & Billiards in Luyang provides a one-stop experience with a cafe, darts, and cue sales. Eclipse Pool & Snooker Lounge, founded in 2024, represents the newer generation of KK venues.

Star Cuesports adds to these options with the advantage of a modern commercial complex location. For players who prefer a mall-adjacent setting with parking and food nearby, this venue's Metro Town positioning is a practical draw.

Honest Assessment

We lack detailed information about Star Cuesports' specific table brands, pricing, operating hours, and additional services. The four-unit footprint is promising and suggests a venue with ambition and scale, but without more data points, we cannot offer a confident quality assessment. The venue does not appear on major review platforms with enough feedback to gauge customer satisfaction.

For players choosing between KK's snooker venues, Sheffield Snooker remains the best-documented option for serious players, with confirmed steel block tables and coaching. Star Cuesports may appeal to those who prefer the convenience of a modern commercial complex. King Snooker on Jalan Sulaman is another alternative worth investigating if you are in the KK area. Players who need a new snooker cue might find retail options at Star Cuesports given its size, though this is unconfirmed.
