Triple Q Sandakan Review - Pool & Snooker Club in Sandakan, Sabah

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Triple Q Sandakan, also known as Sandakan Pool & Snooker Club, is the primary cue sports venue in Sandakan, Sabah's second-largest city. What makes this venue notable is its equipment provenance: the tables were installed by Lujo Snooker & Games, a Kuching-based supplier that carries premium brands including Rasson and Riley. This connection to a reputable equipment supplier is a positive indicator of table quality.

Table Configuration: 9ft Pool and 10ft Snooker

Triple Q offers both 9ft American pool tables and 10ft snooker tables, which is a practical combination that serves different player preferences. The 9ft pool table is the standard tournament size for American pool, providing a serious playing experience for pool enthusiasts. The 10ft snooker table is smaller than the full 12ft tournament standard but still offers a genuine snooker experience and is more practical for venues with limited floor space.

The 10ft snooker table is worth understanding in context. While purists may prefer the 12ft table used in professional tournaments, a 10ft table plays remarkably well and is the most common size found in Malaysian halls outside of premium venues. The pockets are proportionally sized, and the playing area is still large enough to develop proper technique and shot selection. For the vast majority of recreational and club-level players, a well-maintained 10ft table provides an excellent experience.

The Lujo Connection

Having tables installed by Lujo Snooker & Games is meaningful. Lujo is a Kuching-based supplier that carries Rasson and Riley tables, two brands with strong reputations in the cue sports world. Rasson tables are used in international pool tournaments, and Riley is a heritage British snooker brand. While we cannot confirm exactly which models were installed at Triple Q, the fact that Lujo handled the installation suggests a professional setup with proper levelling and assembly.

Lujo covers all of East Malaysia (both Sarawak and Sabah) for table installation and delivery, which makes them the go-to supplier for venues in Borneo. Their involvement in Triple Q's setup is an encouraging sign for table quality, though ongoing maintenance and cloth condition depend on the venue's own upkeep practices.

Sandakan: Sabah's Second City

Sandakan is Sabah's second-largest city, famous for its orangutan rehabilitation centres, turtle islands, and historical significance as the former capital of British North Borneo. For the cue sports community, Sandakan has historically had fewer options than Kota Kinabalu, which makes Triple Q's presence particularly valuable for local players who would otherwise face a five-hour drive or domestic flight to KK for quality table time.

The venue serves not just Sandakan residents but also players from surrounding areas, including visitors to the many nature tourism attractions nearby. If you are in Sandakan for ecotourism and want an evening's entertainment, Triple Q offers a quality alternative to the typical hotel bar or restaurant circuit.

Honest Assessment

Triple Q Sandakan stands out in the Sabah scene for two reasons: it is the only identified cue sports venue in Sandakan, and its tables were installed by a reputable supplier. The combination of 9ft pool and 10ft snooker tables gives players flexibility. The Lujo connection suggests the initial equipment quality is above average for a regional venue.

What we cannot confirm includes specific pricing, operating hours, and current table condition. Equipment quality at the time of installation is one thing; ongoing maintenance is what determines the day-to-day playing experience. We also lack customer reviews to assess atmosphere, service, and overall satisfaction.

For players elsewhere in Sabah, Star Cuesports and King Snooker are options in Kota Kinabalu. BSA Snooker Centre in Tawau serves the southeastern corner.
